Roofing Guidelines
It is acceptable to replace your cedar shake roof with a composition roofing material. HOWEVER, there are restrictions that apply. You MUST use CertainTeed Presidential Shake T.L. which has been approved or GAF Grand Canyon which have been approved. CertainTeed Presidential Shake, GAF Grand Sequoia and PABCO Paramount ARE NOT acceptable material. If you have any questions, contact Around the Clock, Inc. or the board.
Composition Roofing must have at least:
- A 50-year warranty
- A weight of 450 lbs. per one square (100 square feet)
- Visual characteristics approved by ACC/Board
Composition materials approved to date:
- CertainTeed Presidential Shake TL (480 lbs/SQ) (not Presidential Shake) in Autumn Blend, Shadow Grey, Aged Bark, and Charcoal Black
- GAF-ELK Grand Canyon (460 lbs/SQ) (not Grand Sequoia) in Sedona Sunset, Mission Brown, Black Oak or Stone Wood
- PABCO Paramount Advantage (495 lbs/SQ) (not Paramount) in Oakwood, Pewter Grey and Antique Black
- Cedar Shake recommendations include:
- #1 grade materials
- Medium to heavy weight shakes
- Treated wood
All roofing alternatives other than those specifically mentioned above (such as light weight concrete tile and metal) must be approved by the ACC/Board of Directors.
